Greetings...
I see my comments generated quite some feedback. I read most of it (thanks to this translator, I was able to understand most of it )
As you probably noticed, the thread with my comments has been locked by Alzar and he mentioned that I broke the NDA. I think, that a NDA should not be used to cover up the bad state of a game, which is currently the case with DnL. [édité] thus why I am by now rather angry about the continued lack of information, the continued existance of the oppressive NDA and the artificial hype generated around the game, with no basis being there to satisfy this hype in November. Even if NP3 were to add *all* the basic systems until then, it will take time to properly balance them and to stress test their servers. Since none of that has happened yet, the time to release is in my opinion much too short for DnL to become a commercial success. The devs show screenshots from time to time, which reveal content of the game,, thus the possibility exists, that the internal beta version is much more advanced than the one we have to preview the game. In that case, I think it is a mistake of NP3/Farlan to leave previewers with the basic version of the game, which has not enough content to make a preview about. As I said before, we'll finish this preview in October and things might still change dramatically until then. If the NDA stays up for much longer though, you'll know why: the devs need to hide the unfinished state of their game, which is an abuse of the trust of their community, which I cannot support. I look forward to DnL shaping up to the state it should be, considering how easy the last stages should be according to Alzar and his explanation of their "modular" development of the game. My concern is however that after 4 years, the game is barely in an early beta stage and will release in 2 months with most of these "modules" being nowhere in sight. Good Luck to NP3/Farlan. I'd rather see them be successful than seeing DnL die the same way AC2 and other premature MMOGs died in the past. DnL is not an exception in the industry though, so they should be careful: the ice they walk on is very thin. |
