QA
What is the team size ?
13 programmers.
What are you looking for, just for more programmers ?
Yes.
Any update on beta 1, fall, winter ?
Summer.
Who from the current studio was living out to Seattle if any ?
Nobody is moving out to Seattle.
All the new people out there were all from Seattle.
Seattle office has already started ? Or will it be launched ?
They're still working out at their homes.
When we'll get a couple more then there will be an official office.
Can you intruduce the new intern ?
Yes during the summer.
It's the same intern than last summer, 'My' son's roommate.
And he's actually pretty good.
Why was this decision made earlier ?
Because it wasn't an easy one to make.
And like i said, we had to have the right person.
Opening a side-..? office as anyone who's followed a game developement knows, doesn't often end well.
There are courses, issues, problems with doing it.
And it all starts by having the right person.
Back at Mythic, we were, as far as i know, the first studio in EA who were outsourcing.
We actually put one of our people in the remote location, in that case China, because we believed that it would be easier to work with the outsroucing company there.
It's the same here, starting out a new studio, is not easy.
We wanted to be sure to have the right person, and George is.
Can you tell the names of the new programmers ?
Once again, we'll introducing them all during this summer.
What's the status of the re-abilitation ?
It's going quite well.
Et après il parle d'un post sur le forum off qui explique selon lui très bien la complexité de la chose.
And as i mentioned, one of those programmers, second senior guy out in Seattle, has been moved on to re-ab as of this week, to also help speed up the process.
Are you worried about the collisions between studios ?
Not at all.
If we were going with a huuuuge seperate Seattle branch, with 60 or more programmers, that's a real problem, we're not, the company is not that big and we won't be that big in the short term.
we have stand ups 3 times a week usually, we talk all the time to these folks, so, we're really not worried about the collision at all.
And again, we have the right people.
So what does this mean, not just for beta but for launch ? More classes at launch ? Or speed to launch going to be the focus ?
Let's focus on getting the game out at what we've currently scoped before i talk about what we can get as bonus as we potentially hire more programmers.
The key for us is delivering this game at the quality level you folks would like us to.
That's what i'm focusing on, and must focused on right now with these additional programmers.
Are you afraid of the team would grow to fast ?
Not at all.
Again if you look at what we've done.
2 programmers are at seatlle 2 are here.
That's fine.
not a pb at all in terms of growth.
Even if we added 4 more programmers,i still wouldn't be worried.
You would start getting communication issues at a much bigger size than that, and we have no intention at all to get that big.
No concerns what so ever.
Do you have an idea or body(?) on what would the studio of Seattle would work on ? Sprecific systems ? Etc ?
George is still doing the front ding thing (?) and threading thing. Which we had a nice update this morning on.
Brad we mentioned was in the process of moving over from that celling and morphing stuff (which came out great) to re-ab. (un peu confus là, comme s'il savait pas de quoi il parlait).
And the other programmer is doing server stuffs.
Do you need anymore sound ingeniers ?
Not right now, sorry.
Can you pay Jen more money, and maybe she will stay ?
We gonna miss Jen (Jennessy).
She was great, we loved her. She worked really hard.
But the community is a killer, and the commu wasn't gonna change with her raise. (du salaire)
She really made an effort, she did things the right way at the end, and so nothing but respect and love for her, for the effort she made and commuting to us.
She needs to be based in Pensylvania and we've been very clear with you folks, and specially those who are from the Kickstarter, i've always believe that if you have someone as a community manager that they are based with the team.
Can we have some art-streams with Michel this summer ?
Of course ! Of course.
We gonna be bring back some favorites from the other streaming sessions.
Michel, also Jon, Diane, Tyler.
We'll see who else also.
Do time zones cause issues ?
Oh sure !
Look, you're 3 hour time difference between here and the west coast.
so there's always a chance of miscommunication not being able to reach somebody.
But these guys starting when we start, we do our stand ups, they are there.
They're making a real effort to be part of the team.
We gonna minimize some of the issues we might have.
Have consciously avoiding to update to win10 absolutly, this news is demolarizing at best.
Look, it's not news.
This is YOUR choice, if you don't want to update to win10, it's not goin to effect you at launch.
The question is will it be affecting you 3 or 4 years later ?
How will win7 be ?
Adrew made a good point : win7 is as old as winXP was when win8 came out.
So if you're using win7, you are really using a very old OS !
And if Microsoft and nVidia and other folks don't upgrade drivers, it's obviously not our fault.
Let me say 100% : you don't have to upgrade for this game !
we're not making this a windows live or any thing like that.
stick to your old OS if you want.
but understand that if a few years later then if microsoft md nvidia stop supporting the older one, that's your pb, not ours.
that's really is your choice.
blablabla
Some amasing cube constrcuts !
What are plans and benefits on building a Church, a castle, a relic, etc.. and how does one identify on endgame ?
Well building a Church, if you're just building your own church it doesn't gonna have an effect other than you have a cool strcuture.
that's up to you.
We're building things that exist in the world that will have a benefit.
But if you decide to make a structure that looks like a church, or a relic keep, a mosk, a synagog, or whatever, that's your choice, that has no effect on the game other than you've built a structure.
Are there plans on Linux support ?
No.
May it change ?
Maybe, we're focused on PC for now. PC Windows.
What is the plan of max programmer group size ? 20ish or more ?
Oh if we could get to 20, i'd be thrilled !
Absolutly thrilled !
Will we get there ?
who konws ?
I'd love to, but i wouldn't count on it.
What's the difference between working from home and when they get in office ?
There're advantages working together obviously.
you can just look over your shoulder, we can just tap somebody and ask some questions, and through some ideas out in a very casual maners.
And it's obivously a lot harder than if you do it remotely, even if you do that double remotely, when tehy're sperated from each other and then from us like in Seattle.
We would love to get some more there, so that makes sense to get a nice office, nice in the geographic sense (... ?)
Nice in a sense they can all sit down work together talk about things.
Because as if what happens in this studio, a lot of discussions has turned out to meaningfull decisions for the game.
While we are very content obviously, we still have 3 programmers out there without being in an office. We would be much prefer to have 5 prog and say ok, now it's time to get a space.
(rien compris)
Could you speak to the majority of (business ??) ?? of this game compared to previous games you've been a part of, prior to their beta1 release ?
Good question !
Very good question actyually !
So, .. memory may fail a little
I would say that in most ways we would be more robust than Dark Age, and that's no offence to the team that made DarkAge, that was a pretty awsome effort by an awsome team.
But the things that our agents are going to be able to do, one we open beta1 compared to what we had to work with back then, i think that is a win for us.
In terms of Warhammer, i would say probably that warhammer is fairly far ahead, they and we, already had a engin to work with, a lot of tech that we didn't need to re-invent, we had the awsome customer support syustem as well.
It's safe to say we won't be as robust as that (as warhammer) but certainly more than DarkAge.
Any expected time frame for more infos / flushed out classes beyond the concepts we have now ?
Has there something you want ...? to wait for beta or will we get maybe an update like this, talking about the classes, the things to come, ...
Yeah certgainly right before we get to Beta1.
We gonna give you guys more infos.
Obvously part of what has to happen before Beta1 is that we have a re-ab system has to be strong enough that we're able to build abilities and build the same abilities that we're ready to laid out for the classes in the game.
So once we're sure what would be there for beta1, that's when we can talk about it.
And that's smthing really important, and i'll take a slight digression, about what we doin in re-ab.
One of the reasons we told you about why we doin re-ab.
Is because we went through Ben's class designs, it was becomming more and more apparent that there was going to be way too many things that the current system couldn't handle.
And we weren't willing to sacrifice some of those great ideas and designs for technical reasons.
So that's what we're doing now, we're making sure that the system can handle all of what we need to make the classes great.
As soon as we're in a place that we can look at the classes, we can look at the ab and yep we're there ! that's when we'll let you know.
Any art hire soon ? And how many would you would want ?
In terms of briging more people in the studio : no immediate plans for additional artist in house, unless the right person pops up.
There are a couple people we might be intersted in,n or couple types of people, but we are thinking that we gonna out source, just as we told you folks before.
But we'll see..
Will there be any updates on content or gameplay on streams this summer ?
Oh god yes !
Huge !
It's part of the summer streaming.
Ben's not gonna escape streaming and neither am i.
Can we live stream Camelot Unchained on Twitch ?
Not yet.
When we're ready to lift NDA, you'll be able to do that.
We gonna wait until the animations looks the way we want them to look.
En bref pour le reste : il veut pas que ça parraisse comme une vitrine pour attirer de nouveaux backeurs.
Will all the streaming be saved this summer ?
Yes.
Will other roles be available in Seattle ? Network guys ? Server guys ? Artists ? Etc ..
Programmers Programmers Prgrammers !
We might concider an artist, it depends if we're treating them as an out sourcing geek.
But we prefer to have him here in studio.
Can we expect to have more feature to Beta1 with the addition of programmers ?
No.
i don't want to hype.
