As long as we have a server that's crashing every 5 minutes, there's not that much to test. Login works, as long as the server is up and the cap is not reached (which is almost never the case now as it crashes before then), so no, there is no reason to test the login process itself.
This situation unfortunately happens inbetween updates. Sometimes, the error can be fixed on the server-side only, but at this stage it often requires an update of the clients too. When the Updater (patcher) is up, we can make quick fixes to the clients every once in a while, but now we and you are stuck with this version until we release a complete new version, and that takes time.
We do restart the server again and again, but we can't make it stop crashing until new clients are out. So at this point, the restarts are mainly for you to be able to log in and hopefully see 5 minutes of the game. It's really frustrating, both for you and for us
Forgetting about Beta testing for a couple of weeks sounds like a bad idea. We do update more often than that, and although this last version still contains major bugs, the next one will have to be tested as soon as it's up. Also, although not many features are in, they are indeed in and can be tested as soon as we fix the major bugs.

Réponse de Mats :
It's not a great idea. It's indeed a very stupid thing to do, but it was what could be done at the time. As we couldn't restrict file downloads by having the Updater (patcher) check for login, as the login system wasn't working, we had to abandon it for the time being and rely on torrents and file downloads. That way, we could at least get the client out.
