Twitter, Super Secret, Next Week?
Probably the most significant development to report is some activity on Turbine's part. First off, Turbine's DDO executive producers Kate and Fernando Paiz are/were at E3 this week, getting the press ready for some kind of "big announcement" next week. Word of this comes from the Twitter feed by Turbine Communications Director Adam Mersky: Briefing the press for a big announcement we are making next week. #E3 http://twitpic.com/6hq0j6:04 PM Jun 2nd from TweetieThe picture shows Adam talking to a man with a mustache that I guess is a member of the press. Mr. Mustache has not yet been identified. But, that's not all. Tolero has had a signature for her DDO.com posts that links to a YouTube video of the song "Celebration", leading people to speculate that something has fallen into place. That signature has recently been missing some letters in a countdown-like change that, if it continues on its current pace, would lead one to think there might be something coming on Wednesday. Now, Wednesdays have historically been the days that Turbine has released its Mod updates to the game. However, Turbine has previously said that the preview server Lammania would be down until the next preview, indicating that there would be another Lammania update prior to the release of Mod 9. That leads to a couple of possibilities: 1. Could "Super Secret" be announced next week? It's definitely due, and would fit into the "big announcement" picture. We know that Mod 9 is being delayed due to "Super Secret", and that "Super Secret" is tied to Mod 9. Tolero also mentions that the Twitter post was in relation to Dungeons and Dragons Online, so that would also indicate a big DDO announcement. 2. Could Mod 9 be released on Wednesday? Seems like if it was, then Turbine must be scrapping their Lammania plan. Maybe Lammania will get a Mod 9 update next week? 3. Could "Super Secret" be coming to Lammania before the release of Mod 9? This makes a lot of sense to me, quite likely in fact. So, I'm not saying that Wednesday is confirmed as the day, but it definitely appears that next week will be a big week for DDO. Stay tuned! Incidentally, the DDO.com thread discussing this includes a (finally) second post from Fernando Paiz, which is nice. Only criticism I'd write is that if Kate and Fernando Paiz were at E3 this year, why not mention it to the community over the past week or so as people have been unhappy that Turbine wasn't going to promote the game at E3? Seems like an oversight on Turbine's part. Source : DDOCast |
