Since the team is hard at work prepping Alpha County for launch, this month I thought I’d show you some behind-the-scenes shots of the dev’s work in progress… Lately, Affa (our Lead Scripter), has been working on getting all the Progress Town mechanics fine-tuned. Taking time to get this one right is crucial to us, as Progress Towns provide player-driven content in Sectors 2, 3 and Deadfall:

Devo and the artists have been working hard on completing the assets needed as well as building the terrain and working on environmental effects. The lore in Alpha is pretty big – big enough to require rethinking how we approach art and content. When art and content first sat down and planned out The Grainway, we knew where we wanted to go, but we didn’t have the tools needed to develop the county artistically the way the story called for. Every patch we’ve released to date has brought us one step closer to making Alpha County possible. While they’re not quite finished putting the final touches on the art, they’ve come a long way in a short amount of time:

Many of the missions in Alpha County were written prior to the implementation of the art, giving us time to go back and make sure that we are involving the player in the story the way we want to. Getinthecar (our Content Lead) has been running the existing missions, tweaking them when appropriate as well as updating some of them to use new brains for improved gameplay:

Since we are using an entirely new style of terrain, there is a lot of testing involved to make sure that the crits behave correctly when attacked by players. Fafnir (Content Designer) has been running critters through the new area and watching their pathing:

Maenad (our Systems Lead) is working out the details on the combat changes as well as balancing new gear for Alpha County. She’s been working closely with Alarik as he makes the necessary changes to the engine for the combat and crafting augmentation system. Most of her work involves complex charts, spreadsheets and formulas, while Alarik spends his time coding, testing, breaking and fixing things.

Heureusement que je picole sec en se moment car y'a rien à s'mettre sous la dents niveau mmo..
