Code:
Can we expect to have more feature to Beta1 with the addition of programmers ? No. i don't want to hype. i don't want to promess Focus is on Beta1 to be released asap. Will you at some point be hiring for internal quality assurance / bug testing, and not solelly relying on community ? Oh yeah ! How many ? I have no idea. We know our great community can do a lot of this work. But at some point we'll want to have sb here if nothing else to head up the effort of the community just as we have JB doing the mod squad, i'll be doing with the builders brigade ? When Beta1 starts will you have new plans for a game timeline towards lunch ? I hope so, i think that'll be a logical thing to do. As you know guys, i could very easily lay out a timeline right now, i could pick some numbers, could even justify them, but i don't want to do that. That's just silly, we missed obviously the Beta1 date, we now added more programmers. I don't want to use a date to intice people into backing our game by saying "oh yeah don't worry it's gonna be _random date_", that's just wrong. But, once we get into beta, then we'll have much better chance to lay out at least a short term realistic timeline. Why do you think CU can position itself when MMOs have struggled to find their audiences ? Define "struggle" !? If you look at all the MMOs that have been released in the last couple of years, some of them have done quite well, it depends on what you think, or what your goals are. We're not positionning CU as a WoW-killer, ESO-killer, it's positioned only as an MMO designed solally for people who like RVR, Crafting, being part of a world which they are building. What are thre nuimbers for that game if we do well ? Who knows ! It's higher than my worst estimates, and probably even higher than my best estimates. Time will tell ! Again, we're not worrying about trying to get half a milion subs, or a milion or ten milion. If you look at the MMOs launched already, i don't think that anybody can look at them from a financial stand point and say "none of them have succeeded". Our expectations are low, we hope to achieve. When will the summer streams will start ? Hopefully before the end of the month. Next week we gonna be sitting down and laying things out We've been a bit preoccupied, specially andrew and I a month or so. I can't stress that enough, we've been through so many resumees and interviews, we had to take a lot of tiome doing that, was a lot of work. How does the game determine what faction occupies a piece of land on the map ? Well the game does as you do ! We'll be starting the game with the world broken up into pieces, some of them will be owned by the realm when it starts, and then the rest is up to you guys ! You have to take it all, to hold it, to build on it. Not my job ! What kind of programming specialties are you looking for rightnow ? Gameplay ! Can you make a special streaming season about the status about the ability system in the near time ? Sure ! That's absolutly something that we gonna do. Absolutly no questions about it. Do you have any plans on selling spaceships to get any more money ? (j'évite la retranscription trollesque plus ou moins drôle :p) Thanks for the question ! I love it ! Good one ! Is there going to be any PvE in this game ? One of my favorite things to do in DAoC was to get with friends and go kill some high leveled mobs... We've been very clear from the begining that this is not a PvE leveling game. Trying to sell the concept of a hardcore RvR game and a hardcore PvE game for the low low price of the budget i've put forward would have been one giant ton of bullshit. So, no, there's not gonna be PvE leveling. However, we've said also that we won't have PvE, crafting is PvE in many ways, we'll have things in the Depth that will count as PvE, there'll be other things in the world that would count as PvE. But PvE leveling, the idea of following a quest chain, the idea of spending all your time beating on mobs instead of beating on other players in order to level your character ? We're not gonna be able to do that, i can't and won't lie to you folks about that. But there'll be plenty of things to that don't involve only going out into the woods and hitting other players over the head with sticks. Is there a worry that Georges make it _??__ down with management stuff in Seattle instead of focusing on his primary skill set ? Sure ! It's the same with Andrew ! That's the nice thing about having both Andrew and Georges. If George was the only one who had to manage people from Seattle than i would bag(?)balk(?) him down. Same hold true here ! If Andrew can only manage, and not do software architecture and not do other things in the studio, that would obviously take our out time. But at the end of the day, what's important is what is the gain of having those additional programmers ? Does it add weight what we gonna be loosing in terms of some additional management ? <-- rien compris It absolutely is worthwhile, especially in the long term, cause as you all know, it doesn't matter if you're starting as a programmer or as a linecock somewhere. As you learn about where you're working, what you're responsabilities are, the proceedures, you need less and less help, because you're now a experienced member of the team. And it will free up guys like Andrew & George. It's the other programmers here as well who have to mentor, to help the other "younger guys". JB is working closely with Garet. Mock is working with Colin. etc... Everybody is making the effort and i'm thanking the entire team for that. Will there be expansions in CU ? FNF return ? Yes we've talked about extender packs and expansion packs. Both are confimred. And absolutely the FNF(FNS ?) will return. As soon as we get enough of the build ability system in. Will there be streams from Seattle this summer as well ? That's up to Seattle guys ! And i don't force anyone to. Can you roughly estimate the team size at launch and also estimate the intern/outsroucing scope ? Hummm ... that really depends. I know that we would be about 30 at launch. More ? I don't know yet. We would need some customer service that would lead to this number. When is the building squad coming in ? If so would you adding more people to IT ever gain ? Yes to the second. Soon to the first. We had a side technical difficulty with the IP board. I added some folks to a new sub-forum, i started about old school game, and realised that "oh jeeze", we'll had to do a little bit more than we thought, in order to get that setup. So, we've done same for builders brigade, and i'm waiting here back from the guy who hopefully will be leading up the effort on the player side. And once i have that then we'll be getting on. Can you describe what your vision for end game is for CU ; regarding gear, RvR, ranking, world control, etc... ? Oh, all that in 2 minutes ? I'll do my best. There is no end game The entire game is the end game. We've talked about soft caps on levels. We've talked about the fact that gears are not that important in the game when it comes to how it modifies your stats. We've talked about buildings, all the things that you'll be able to do to try to make your life more interesting as you level up your character. tl;dr - We suggest, if you're looking at this over the long term, you should really think about upgrading to win10. It will not affect you about anything we plan on this game. - Hiring 4 new people at the same time, is a big deal for the studio. It's a big one as well setting up this sattelite studio in Seatlle. This is something that sets a tone of the studio. This is not just hiring 4 people : we're spending more money on this as well. |
