<[FLS]Rev> Hey everybody!
<[FLS]Augustus> Hey everyone!
<[FLS]Rev> Welcome aboard!
<[FLS]Bert> howdy all
<[FLS]Rev> This ship is sailing!

<greyfox> Could you go into more detail about crafting? what all can we make, and what resources can we mine/harvest/etc?

<[FLS]Rev> The short version is, everything.
<[FLS]Rev> Everything you use in the game can be made by players.
<[FLS]Rev> Ships, ammo, equipment, consumables, etc.
<[FLS]Rev> Ports produce resources, such as Granite or Limestone or Cattle, or more abstract stuff like harbors big enough to build ships.
<[FLS]Rev> Each port produces a different list of stuff.
<[FLS]Rev> Within a port, you construct buildings such as warehouses, lumber mills, copper mines, etc.
<[FLS]Rev> These buildings can then use resources provided by the port and recipes you've learned to produce materials.
<[FLS]Rev> That may be finished items such as ships or ammo, or it may be intermediate items such as planks and nails.
<[FLS]Rev> Building a ship is a major project and it's not really feasible for one player to build a ship from absolute scratch.
<[FLS]Rev> You'll use auction houses and warehouses to buy intermediate items you can't produce yourself.
<[FLS]Rev> So ultimately, networks of players will form ad hoc via the auction system and at the end somebody will produce a ship.
<[FLS]Rev> But most items are much simpler to make.
<[FLS]Rev> Generally, though, you're making large quantities of stuff.
<[FLS]Rev> So you don't crank out a single cannonball.
<[FLS]Rev> Your structures build entire crates of ammo with a hundred cannonballs or whatever.
<[FLS]Rev> It's not quite crafting, it's more like large scale production management.
<[FLS]Rev> Each building stores up labor when not in use, and you can then spend that accured labor on recipes.
<[FLS]Rev> So the actual crafting is instant.
<[FLS]Rev> And you store labor automatically while adventuring.
<[FLS]Rev> Anyway, I'm now rambling. Next question!

<asmarsh> Will the pirates in the game be getting pets (i.e. parrots, monkeys, etc.) to sit on their shoulders or follow them?

<[FLS]Augustus> We *love* the idea of players having pets. No pirate is truly complete without a monkey on his shoulder.
<[FLS]Augustus> It pains us that we don’t have time for pets for launch, but you can bet that we’ll be looking hard at this feature when we flesh out our avatar gameplay.

<[RR]_Matin> Will there be a provision for guilds to enter port battles as a group?

<[FLS]Augustus> We are incredibly excited about guilds and how they participate in our RvR system, and the Final Battle events in particular.
<[FLS]Augustus> Although the current system does not specifically support guildmates entering the final battle together, this is something we’re going to be looking at closely during beta.
