Hero Changes
Spider-Man
It's time for one friendly neighborhood Spider-Man to receive a design update!
For Spidey, we wanted to focus on not only bringing his mechanics and general layer count into 2015, but take advantage of new tech we've created in the last year to improve his animations and visuals, such as Venom's new dynamic web attachment.
A special thanks to many players from the Spidey community who banded together to provide us with an incredibly detailed feedback write up earlier this year.
Crimefighter
- Spidey Pummel (REVAMPED) has been converted into a three-hit combo attack with an all-new animation and is no longer a basic. The power now deals bonus damage based on Spidey's dodge rating.
- Arachnid Assault (NEW) - A new cooldown power for melee Spider-Man players can be found in the Crimefighter tree. Inspired by comic panels that utilize silhouettes to show Spidey's agility and speed, this power rapidly strikes nearby enemies in the blink of an eye.
- Infuriating Humor has moved to the Crimefighter tree.
- Spider-Brawl - Bonus damage to bosses removed and base damage increased accordingly. Additionally, the power now deals bonus damage based on Spidey's dodge rating.
- Web Wrecking Ball - Visually updated, showcasing Spidey using the terrain to his advantage, ripping up chunks of it to spin around rather than a large web ball. The power now increases his dodge chance while channeling.
- Spider Slam (NEW) - The crimefighter tree includes a new power, where Spidey backflips into the air, then webzips rapidly onto an enemy with a high-impact kick from up above.
- Web Yank - This power has been merged with Stick Around, using specializations (see Wallcrawler section).
- Spider to the Fly - This power has been converted into a specialization (see Wallcrawler section).
Webslinger
- Impact Webbing (REVAMPED) - This power has been rethemed and repurposed as a channeled cone of Web Bullets rather than a basic attack, with a new animation and visuals. While channeling, Spidey gains increased dodge chance.
- Web Barrage - Bonus damage to bosses removed and base damage increased accordingly. Additionally, the power now deals bonus damage based on Spidey's dodge rating.
- Web Sling (NEW) - A new high-damage cooldown has been added to Spidey's ranged arsenal. In this power, Spidey uses the terrain, using his webs to slingshot forward a chunk of the environment, backflipping over the projectile as it soars ahead of him. Keeping with the theme, this power also deals bonus damage based on Spidey's dodge rating.
- Constrictive Webbing - The damage over time effect has been migrated to Stick Around as a passive effect applied when striking with Webslinger powers.
Wallcrawler
- Superior Agility - This power now contains three build-altering specializations for Spider-Man. They allow him to focus on melee attacks, ranged attacks, or a hybrid of both that uses all movement and acrobatic powers found in his kit. The affixes formerly found on Spider to the Fly and Constrictive Webbing can be found between the passive and Specializations. Each specialization will alter an existing power into a damage layer, but will remove another damage layer to compensate.
- Web Zipline, Agile Attack, and Webswing Attack - These three powers have been merged into a single movement power that alternates between the animations. For players who enjoyed just one of the three and want to stick to what they know, a specialization has been added that allows you to select just one of the three every time you use the power rather than it choosing at random.
- Spider-Sense - Power can now be activated to cleanse crowd control effects.
- Web-Swinging - Visually updated with all-new animations and visuals. No longer costs Spirit.
- Web Shield - Effects migrated to other passives.
Amazing Smash (Signature) - Now restores 50% of your maximum Spirit when activated.
Maximum Spider (Ultimate) - Active duration increased to 5 seconds, adding 15 hits to the damage portion.
Thor
This week brings a small quality of life update to Thor. He's been just shy of hitting the metric marks, so in addition to hitting a couple of tuning knobs, we looked for some easy wins for his general quality of play.
- Power progression updated, giving more impactful powers at early levels.
- Son of Odin fully restores Odinforce. Spirit restoration per enemy hit increased 50%.
- Odinforce now grants 2% damage bonus per bar filled. Thundering Strike and Crack the Sky updated to also scale based on the number of bars filled. Slight increase to the delay before Odinforce begins to decay again after gaining.
- Asgardian Smite set to a flat 4s cooldown instead of one that scales to 4s at rank 50. Recovery time reduced.
- Forked Lightning now prevents Odinforce decay while channeling.
- Lightning Hammer and Hammer of Storms range increased, and animation speeds sped up 30%.
- Lightning Hammer now deals higher base damage and has a 4s cooldown, shared with Spinning Strike. no longer is a charge-up power, but it can still be held to create the PBAoE lightning maelstrom. Tapping the key will automatically throw it at roughly the same animation speed as Hammer of Storms. This grants a hammer throw alternative layer for players who prefer powers with larger areas of effect and may not tend to use Spinning Strike in their builds.
- Lightning Strike now hits up to 3 enemies when imbued with Odinforce. Range increased. Critical hit chance increased slightly when imbued with Odinforce.
- Leaping Smite (Odinforce-imbued) and Hammer Smash visual increased in size to match area of effect.
- Ragnarok now deals additional damage to enemies in the center of the blast rather than always dealing a critical hit. Base damage slightly increased.
- For Asgard! now also increases critical damage by the same amount as base damage.
- Yggdrassil’s Boon health increased 30%, health regeneration increased 50%, projectile deflection increased 25%.
- The Anti-Force (Signature) base damage increased.
- God Blast (Ultimate) power rank buff component replaced with increased Critical and Brutal damage. God Blast active component base damage increased.
Cable
Pulse Rifle has been fixed to scale with attack speed in Ordinance Discipline spec (as the tooltip already shows).
Along with this large increase in the damage of this spec, we've made the following changes:
- Viper Beam - now rotates twice as fast as previously, which should help with tracking moving targets while retaining the feel of firing a very badass weapon.
- Psimitar Slam - animation time decreased, damage increased. Take 50% less damage during this power.
- Impaling Thrust - bonus damage in spec increased to 250%
- Swift Lunge - damage increased
- Telekinetic Overload - animation time decreased, damage increased. Take 50% less damage during this power.
- Mind Bullets - bonus damage increased from 30% to 40%
- Psionic Illusion - damage increased.
- Psimitar Slam - damage increased.
- Telepathic Illusion - damage increased (Mental Discipline).
Gambit
- Bo Beatdown - now brings Gambit closer to the target before starting to attack, which means Grand Slam will always be in range when alternating with Bo Beatdown.
- Bo Vault - has a shorter minimum range, such that a stationary target can be hit with Bo Beatdown and Grand Slam without Gambit having to move between activations.
Bug Fixes
Fixed a visual issue caused by Deadpool’s Server Lag Ultimate.
Fixed an issue that would cause item tooltips to flicker intermittently.
Spider-Man’s Leaping Assault no longer shows a line of web along the ground as the power is used.
Fixed an issue where the S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Team-Up quest would be active for all heroes rather than once per account.
