Hi Nova fans.
I have some good news to announce.
We have final approval to release an enhanced Richard Rider costume for Nova!
These are the details of the plan as currently approved:

  • Nova will be released in September as I've previously announced.
  • As we expected, he will have his modern costume as his default (Sam Alexander) to match current comic storylines.
  • He will have a second Sam costume at launch. Exact one is still in discussion and approval. Likely all original.
  • A short time after launch we'll have an enhanced Richard Rider costume with a completely original model, dialogue and voice acting. (We are going to redo this from our original plans to make sure it's completely up to date).
  • All 3 costumes mentioned above will be delivered automatically to for Ultimate Pack owners, who have patiently waited for the resolution of the Richard Rider costume situation.
  • We'll have more teasers and info about Nova as we get closer to his official launch.
  • We are all incredibly happy about this and we'be been waiting for this for a long, long time.
Thanks everyone.
Pour le prix de l'enhanced :

100% agreed, we talked about making an exception to the pricing scheme for this costume and selling it at the regular price costume (despite the massive amount of additional work that this costume will require) since this is a very special case.
l'ultimate de Rocket raccoon :
WhaRAlh.jpg

Patch Overview

This patch focuses on the release of the Domino team-up and some quality of life changes in various places in the game.

10 Days of Guardians of the Galaxy Event!

Leading up to the release of Guardians of the Galaxy, we’re having various events and promotions as a countdown to the upcoming Marvel theatrical movie release!
In-game, players can collect Planet X Bark from their daily Shared Quests (one per each Quest) and turn them in to Jocasta for rewards!
In addition, we’ll be having a Midtown Madness event as well as rotating sales every day!

New Team-Up: Domino!

The mutant assassin and X-Force member Domino (or Neena Thurman) uses her good luck powers and deadly arsenal to help heroes defeat the bad guys.

domino1.jpg

Enemy AI Updates

Last month we did a very large upgrade of enemy AI and powers, which made a lot of encounters and enemies more interesting and challenging in reasonable ways.
We’re doing an ongoing review of enemy encounters and powers to make sure everything is challenging and also added some fun mechanics to existing fights whenever possible.
We have a good feedback thread in the Enemy / Boss forums that we’ve been using as a method to collect opinions along with our own in-game experiences.
As often as possible, we’ll try to make at least one encounter or enemy more fun and balanced. Some enemies will get brand new powers and some will have adjustments of current powers to add more counterplay.
We have the first change for this week:

  • Kurse's Sweep attack now has a red warning tell indicator and does 30% less damage.
We're working on more changes for the upcoming weeks and months.

Boost Potion Color Improvements

SIF, RIF, and XP boosts have had their icons changed to better reflect the current UI

  • SIF Boosts are now pinkish / purple. (To match the in-game drop colors).
  • XP boosts are now green. (Just like the experience bar)
  • RIF boosts are now yellow. (You can think of it as cosmic, to help remember).

Omega System

This is the final week for the Open Beta period of the Omega System.

  • All players receive a refund of Omega Points spent.
  • All Omega Points that players have earned during the Open Beta process will be kept by all players.
  • There will certainly be bugs and other issues discovered once the system is officially live. Whenever any significant changes are made, players will receive a point refund to allow for reallocation.
  • The amount of XP needed for an Omega Point has been lowered to 16.4 million. This is the final cost per point once the system officially goes live next week.
  • In addition to Omega Points in Login Rewards and Shared Quest daily rewards, there are also Omega Points to be earned through the achievement system, (currently in the final stages of development) and several special events in the coming months.

X-Defense and Holo-Sim

Each patch, we’ll continue to review data and adjust both Holo-Sim and X-Defense to ensure each of the waves are reasonably challenging in relation to each other and the risk and reward are sweet.
Two small upgrades this week:

  • Reliquaries of Rarity now have a chance to drop from each X-Defense and Holo-Sim waves’ reward chest.
  • The loot of those chests has also been increased so they will scale more aggressively based on the number of waves that are completed.

Muspelheim Raid Zone

The beta testing for the first raid zone of Marvel Heroes has been going well, with fixes each week for outstanding issues as they are discovered. Huge thanks to everyone who has discovered and reported an issue over the last few weeks.
We are in the last week of the Open Beta period and we have fixes for all current issue in this week and next week’s patch, including:

  • Fixed an issue where some players would not receive their weekly bonus drops at the correct time.
  • Fixed an issue where you would be locked outside of Surtur’s lair after Surtur is defeated. The portal outside the lair will now correctly spawn upon defeating Surtur.
  • Fixed an issue on the Monolith fight where a defeated yellow archer was spawning 6 times the amount of Fire VFX. This is now corrected and will only spawn one fire hotspot.
  • Fixed an issue where the trash mobs in the hellfire and brimstone fight could be spawned without causing the enrage timers to activate on the bosses
  • Fixed an issue where zoning into the Monolith’s room caused the enrage timer to start, but not display. Monolith now has a considerably smaller inital aggro radius.
Next week's patch will remove the Open Beta tag and set loot to their appropriate levels, along with adding an alternate "non raiding" method of acquiring the components needed to increase the Item Grade of your gear.
All raid loot cooldowns have been reset with today's patch to allow for another round of testing and feedback.
Raid Difficulty Levels
The challenge of a new game mode is always a big topic of discussion. Rest assured that we have a very modern and progressive philosophy with regards to raids in RPGs.
We will have an extremely challenging but accessible "Green" version of Raids and a more unforgiving but appropriately rewarding "Red" version of raids (that includes several differences in enemy mechanics).
This will ensure that all players will have an opportunity to experience the Raid content if that is something they are interested in.

Bug Fixes

  • Turrets will no longer be able to attack stealthed/invisible enemies in PvE.
  • Silver Surfer's Ultimate power is now correctly able to critically strike.
  • Certain enemies with Heavy Armor internal designation are now slightly weaker (this includes Rhino, Juggernaut, Taskmaster, Kurse and a few others).
  • Colossus - Fastball Special's summon duration is no longer affected by power duration (summoned ally duration of course still applies correctly).
  • Mr. Fantastic’s Hyperstatic Inducer is now correctly affected by power duration.
  • Taskmaster’s Signature will no longer fail to cast, triggering the cooldown, when cast near walls or obstructions.
  • Omega System - Zarathos node's maximum ranks decreased from 50 to 20 (correctly matches Doom's Mystic Armor node)
  • Insignia of Invisible Woman has had the proper cooldown restored.
  • Maggia Shotgun Bruisers will no longer get stuck when trying to move towards a hero.
  • Mr. Fantastic's signature now always grants the correct number of uses per activation.
  • Silver Surfer & Storm's signatures are now correctly damage enemies in raid encounters.
  • Ghost Rider's Burn the Treads damage-over-time effect will now gain 100% bonus damage from charging the power to full.
  • Squirrel Friends no longer costs Spirit to activate.
  • The Casket of Ancient Winters, Golden Bow of Apollo and Neptune's Trident Legendary item procs are no longer incorrectly capable of performing critical strikes.
  • Cerebro Omega node's defense penalty lowered (from -3 to -2 Defense per hero level per rank).
  • Extremis Stamina Omega node's cost scaling reduced (from +50 to +25 per additional rank)
  • Amadeus Cho Omega node's Brutal Strike chance penalty now correctly applies to the player's summoned allies.

Citation :
Marvel Heroes has been moving along steadily since its release over a year ago. In fact, the superhero MMORPG recently made the switch over to the new 2015 update, tossing in a number of new features, like additional story content. With San Diego Comic-Con right around the corner, the time felt right to check in with developer Gazillion once again, a little more than a year after our previous interview. In addition to asking about new content and whether the MMO will shoot into the cosmos to celebrate the release of the Guardians of the Galaxy film, Gazillion CEO (and former Blizzard North co-founder) David Brevik also answered some questions from our own Chatty community.

Shacknews: For those that haven't followed the Marvel Heroes story to this point, where is the story going into 2015?

David Brevik: Marvel Heroes 2015 can be best summed up as the start of our second season. We have a ton of fun plans this year, including playable villains. The story of the game focuses on Doctor Doom having the Cosmic Cube, then that power being transferred to Loki late last year. The end of the Asgard storyline is live in the game right now, with Surtur and the raid. We will be continuing the storyline this year and hope to tie it in directly with a current comics event.

Shacknews: What has the studio learned over the first year of development? What has the team learned from making adjustments to things like drop rates and what types of changes do you see coming to the game in the future?

Brevik: There has been a tremendous amount learned in the first year. One of the big changes we instituted was opening up the forums to every person in the company and allow them to directly interact with the community. This allows for open, honest, and direct communication with our players. They give us feedback on something that isn't quite right and they can see it fixed within a few weeks. Nothing was sacred. We will change almost anything in the game. We changed the way you acquire characters (from drops, to earned). We continue to learn and adjust and enhance what we have. The game is very different and much better than it was a year ago. We are really excited about where we are going and all of the recent features. I'm most excited about achievements and villains.

Shacknews: When we last spoke about a year ago, you weren't so sure about the idea of adding playable villains. Now that you've introduced Loki and Taskmaster, what other villains is the team looking to make playable?

Brevik: It was important for us to focus on creating the heroes that are core to the Marvel Universe. After we sat back and listened, the community was quite vocal in its opinion on playing as villains. We made the earlier audible to put in Loki and this spring we added Taskmaster. Later this year, we will be introducing Magento, Juggernaut and Venom.

Shacknews: You recently introduced One-Shots to tell stories that aren't necessarily a part of the main Marvel Heroes narrative. What other One-Shot stories are you potentially looking to explore?

Brevik: We have another one coming right around the corner that centers around The Lizard and Mr. Hyde. Early in the main storyline, a bunch of villains escape from the Raft, including Lizard and Mr Hyde. This one-shot details what they did after their escape. We have a bunch of ideas for one-shots. Some will directly tie into the story, like the above one, others will just be side-stories that don't directly tie in. We can do almost anything with these, including visiting famous storylines in the Marvel Comics Universe.

Shacknews: With Guardians of the Galaxy about to release in theaters, are there plans to take Marvel Heroes into the cosmic side of the Marvel Universe?

Brevik: Absolutely. We love the cosmic storylines. We are approaching it in several ways. First, we are going to have all of the Guardians in the game either as playable heroes or Team-Ups. Those will all be live the day before the movie. We will have Nova in the game soon after. Silver Surfer is live and the list goes on. We will also be visiting the cosmic side of things in our main storyline, but that's all I can say right now...

MarvelHeroesHulk.jpg

Brevik was also kind enough to answer a few questions from our Chatty community, who have spent ample time in Marvel Heroes over the course of the past year.

Rauol Duke asks: Some players may have quit on Marvel Heroes, but opted to jump back into the game in time for the Marvel Heroes 2015 launch. What do they suggest for lapsed players to get back in the swing of things?

Brevik: So many things have been added, it depends on when they left. I would highly recommend doing Legendary Quests, completing your Runeword item and preparing for Raids. If you like to not work on progress, try out some of the new heroes or play with friends by doing the Shared Daily Quests. If you want to get competitive you can always check out PvP or see how far you can get in X-Defense.

limpossible asks: Is there a rough estimate for when endless dungeons will come out?

Brevik: It is still a few months away, but we are hoping very soon. Right now, I believe it will be September, but we will see.

limpossible asks: Do you think the Omega Point skill costs are fine at this point, or will the costs ever be lowered?

Brevik: I don't think to costs will be lowered anytime soon. We are still working on the exact balance of the system, but it is nearing final numbers. We will be adding new tabs of abilities and eventually increasing the total cap of points you can accumulate.

cerealSAM2 asks: How do you address the people who would rather create and play their own heroes than a Marvel Hero?

Brevik: There are many other MMOs that allow you to create your own hero. Maybe someday we will have such a system in Marvel Heroes, but there are a bunch of things we would need to do to make that a reality. It would be like adding on a game to our game.

limpossible also asks: Are there plans to add game modes that feel more "group-oriented," aside from Raids and X-Defense?

Brevik: Yes. There is soon to be the Green version of Raids which will be completable by a much larger segment of the community. We will also be adding Brooklyn patrol, a new Midtown-like zone with more community/zone-wide events where people can work together to complete them. We will also have new One-shots that are tuned for groups. Lastly, we will have brand-new modes that will be group-centered as well as new raids later this year.

Rauol Duke also asks: Is there any chance of an Xbox One or PlayStation 4 port of the game?

Brevik: That would be really great! I would love to see that.
