It is with deep regret that we have to bring some disappointing news to you all today. As most of you know, we had planned to begin Alpha 3 on March 28th, but due to some hardware issues, this is not going to be possible. We did mention this in another thread recently, but this is the official announcement.

Our current server setup was capable of handling a smaller number of testers, but we needed to upgrade the hardware in order to support the hordes of new players who will be getting into the game in Alpha 3. A new server cluster was ordered 6 weeks ago and we were given an estimated delivery date of Mid-March. Unfortunately, not everything goes as planned and as of today the hardware is still not available. We have been told that it should be available some time next week. We will need some time to get this server ready for players however, which pushes our likely start date to April 11th with a smaller chance it could be ready next weekend. It really depends on what day the hardware arrives and how long it takes to set everything up.

We will put out another update once the hardware is up and running and finalize the date. At that point we will have some additional information and what to expect for the first group. We will follow that with a download a few days before everyone has access so they can be ready once their key arrives. We strongly encourage everyone to register their pledges with our Backer Portal if they have not done so already, as we will be pulling the information from registered pledges.

We held off until the last minute to make this announcement, because we hoped to avoid it and wanted to explore every avenue. We want you guys to be in game testing just as badly as many of you want to be testing the game. We have been working long hours for the past for the past six weeks trying to cram as much content as we can into the game and get it ready for the influx of new players. If there is a silver lining it’s that another 1-2 weeks of long hours should see more hefty additions before the Alpha 3 testers get their eyes on the game, and it also ensures that our when it begins we will be running the Hero Engine Quartz patch which will be released later today. Truth is that we’re all very disappointed that this happened, and did as much as we could to try to avoid it. Unfortunately, in the end it was unavoidable.

We hope to see you all in game very soon.
