Dear Players,

As per the concluded poll in this thread, we are hereby announcing the withdrawal of official support from the Dominion Government effective immediately.

The option that garnered the most votes in that thread was:

Quote:
Complete delegation of organization and management of the government to the players, as above. We will still carry out requests from the government, but they will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis in an out-of-character manner. Decisions to approve or reject will be purely based on an action's potential for damage on the game. Similar to option 1, we will still provide discussion forums and, if possible, ingame features. We will no longer be involved in the government on a in-character level.
This means that we will no longer enforce any particular form of government, and anything the playerbase decides on will be entirely its prerogative. This means that all existing guidelines that have been put up by us will be taken down and considered to be archived, and will no longer be enforced. If a democratic system is chosen to be retained by the playerbase, we will no longer be facilitating elections, nor defining any election rules.

Our official involvement from now on will be limited to two areas:

1. Infrastructural support - Providing mediums of communication such as private forums, and possibly further new features to facilitate easier governing ingame.

2. Execution of requests from the player government. Unlike before, we will no longer be involved in an in-character level; instead, all decisions to either accept or deny such requests will be made out-of-character. Decisions to deny such requests will still be contingent on fairness and it's potential for damage in the game.

We wish all involved all the best in the coming future.

Regards,
Arthurius

Development Update

Hello everyone,

http://forum.fomportal.com/images/smilies/wavey.gif

You have probably noticed the lack of regular patches for the past few weeks. There is, of course, a reason for all this and I wanted to leave a few words for you.

Maybe a few of you will remember me mentioning something about us brainstorming about the future in one of my latest thread replies. We have been planning and preparing a lot during the past weeks, actually it started 2 months ago by the end of March. In fact, we were busier in the last 2 months than the time before.
As you all know, the Face of Mankind concept is quite unique. It provides a lot of opportunities, but it also comes with man challenges, which is practically the same with all games that focus mainly on the interaction between players and the roleplay involved in this process. So we have never stopped thinking about solutions to realize the initial vision behind Face of Mankind. Let me put it this way, what FoM is right now doesn't completely mirror this initial vision.

Now, I'm sure you would want to know exactly what we have been doing. But herein lies the problem, I can't tell you that... yet!
I know this will create a lot of speculation, but I believe that's better than you thinking we're abandoning the game or being inactive. I don't plan to be mean or anything.

I can only tell you this. We're stirring up something big and it has to do with Face of Mankind in one way or another, with the future and that it involves the FOM development team. This is not a riddle, I just can't be more specific yet. Let me also make something clear, though, it's something good and nothing to get worried about. http://forum.fomportal.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

As a result the patch situation won't change anytime soon. I will try to put in a few patches and of course important balancing updates, but it will look as "inactive" as it seems to appear now regarding new features.
The activity of game masters, moderators and community managers will remain mainly untouched. They are going to organize regular events, possibly involving NPCs in them. They are also working on the factional tutorials directly involving all the 8 factions to make them as useful and close to the actual gameplay as possible.
