Rumors of Open Source T4C?

There has been talk in the underground of an open source emulated T4C server being written. I was very speculative of this news, until I found a thread in our forum discussing this. In this thread, there is a link to a SourgeForge project, called OpenT4C. This means that these rumors are legit. I logged into my account there and sent a message to the Project Admin, asking When it will be available, How close is it to completetion (and of course ) Can I aid in this at all. If this proves to be true, ANYONE can open and run a T4C server with no cost except bandwidth. And since it's Open Source, you wouldn't even need the editor to change the game - you just rewrite the code.

The project is written in a console language (text based - not VB) and will be run off of the BSD operating system. That means that the servers won't suck cause they won't be run off of Windows 2000.

If all this proves to be true, then Vircom won't be too happy. But then again.. their games department doesn't really exist anymore. And on the other hand, this may just be a hoax. Time will tell.

Non, il ne s'agit pas de racheter les codes source à Vircom, mais d'en créer d'autres, libres de droits, donc de distribution libre. Enfin, d'écrire des codes sources serveur et d'utiliser le client existant qui est distribué gratuitement actuellement. Le projet est décrit ici mais il ne bouge pas depuis très longtemps et ça m'étonnerait qu'il voit le jour.
